Basic Firemanship Day 2004
In Review

80 Firefighters from all over the state of Kansas and one from Nebraska spent the day at the Newton Fire/EMS Training Grounds practicing the basics of firefighting. The event was sponsored by Harvey County ESA, Newton Fire/EMS and Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute. Participants were able to pick from four different tracks of training for the day. Classes were given in LP Fires, Car Fires, Interior Fire Attack, Saving Your Own and Basic Pump Operations. The entire day of training was free to the student, with lunch being served on site for all that participated. This was the second year for this annual event and we saw an increase of 40 participants from the first year. Hesston, Halstead, Whitewater, Peabody, Sedgwick and Newton departments all furnished apparatus and equipment to make this training possible. The following are some pictures of the days events.
