Recent Improvements: "The Gas is on"
Kansas Gas Service has donated pipe and labor to install underground gas lines for use in training props at the Newton Fire/EMS training grounds, 800 S.W. 14th. This will enable the fire/EMS department to conduct training without having to move the above-ground pipe from prop to prop.

Piping will be connected to the burn building and four propane burn props as well as a feeder line from the main propane tank to the control station. Kansas Gas employees also will install a line from the tank to the storage building for future use for heating.

“It is a tremendous addition to the training grounds and will make our training evolutions much safer to operate,” Deputy Chief Dean Davis said.

On Oct. 16, Newton fire/EMS will host a Basic Firemanship Day to train area firefighters on these props and others at the training grounds.
